Orton's used to the system, Manning had a system built FOR him... not sure he would work out... especially coming of the surgeries.

Orton is a system QB, yes. Manning is just great... he can adapt to us and we can adapt to him. Not all players can thrive in multiple systems, but I really feel like Manning could. _________________

Don't get me wrong Manning is a beast.... but I would have to see him play.. a game.. at full speed... before I'm ready to give him a whole lot of $$$. I know he has siad that he would sign an incentive based contract but this IS Peyton Manning and there are alot of teams that would be in the bidding for him. I would hate to outbid everyone just to find out that the nerve damage was to much for him to overcome. |

Cool, so its too much to overcome and we don't have to pay him much because he obviously doesn't reach many of his incentives. _________________

| whether or not he's ready and signs an incentive based contract we still have to outbid the other teams in the NFL that are gonna want Manning also. I'm sure that it will come down to a huge signing bonus. And I would hate to shell out big bucks for a Qb with no arm.... we already did that w/ Cassell.

Considering reports from people who have seen him practice, I'll take my chances.

But ask Brodie Croyle and Jamarcus Russel what a great arm gets ya if we want to pretend your negativity is correct.

So you would be willing to sign a Manning and possibly give him a big signing bonus without knowing how he would do in real game speed... coming off a surgery that is known to end most atheletes career? All on faith and hope?

Whats ironic about your argument, is you're also the one pissed off that we don't spend enough money. _________________

I never said spend unwisely or gamble with our $$$ like we did w/ Cassells contract. Signing Carr when the price was less is not a gamble... the gamble is letting him hit the open market and run the chance of losing him. Another gamble is to hope that Cassell looks like a legitimate QB and letting the one with better abilities hit the open market. I say you spend the $$$ on a proven player who's not coming off a season out of the league in which he had 3 maybe 4 surgeries that have a history of ending careers, without seeing him perform at game speed first. But not spending $$$ at all and going into the season with little to no real depth (last season... Tyler Palko as one example) is just plain stupid.
